Community Radio Ideas Swap, Manchester Feb 13th

Community Radio Toolkit presents:

Plugging The Gap – a funding ideas exchange

Did you know that there’s a community radio station that earns thousands a year from its local Pupil Referral Unit, another that gets money from its volunteers and another that got new advertisers in by running a ’99 for £99’ campaign?

On the morning of the Manchester DCMS consultation event (Feb 13th) we’re borrowing the same room for a free 90 minute get together to just throw ‘money ideas’ around.  If you are involved in running a community radio station you’re welcome to join us.  You’ll hear from people with bright ideas like those above and have a chance to throw in your own.  The event will run 10.30 to noon, leaving you time to grab lunch in the adjoining café before the DCMS event.

If you cant join us, it wont be quite the same but, we’ll be recording the event to get it published on the Community Radio Toolkit.

The ‘Plugging The Gap’ community radio Ideas Swap takes place 10.30 – 12.00 Monday February 13th at The Lecture Theatre, The Manchester College, Ashton Old Road, Openshaw, Manchester, M11 2WH

There is a little bit of parking there [dont bank on it being too close by]  - but if you are coming by train there’s the 219 bus best caught from the stop next to the cab rank at Piccadilly station [and before that on Portland St nr Piccadilly Gardens]

As it’s a rather DIY event we wont be offering refreshments but the room is just near the big college canteen where you can stock up on beverages and grab lunch before the DCMS event in the afternoon.  If you need your caffeine fix please get there in time to arrange that as we will want to start promptly.

The agenda is quite simple – we’ve a few guests – and we’ll ask all attendees to chip in, presenting their ideas and discussing what’s heard.  Looking forward to seeing you, Phil.

Please email me phil[at]radioregen.org to get a place.

  1. Thanks for the invitation. Would love to share and hear some ideas but can’t quite justify the 700 mile round trip. Is there anyway for us to contribute some experiences from Cornwall?

Looking forward to listening to the recording.

  2. Cheers Matthew
With you on that 700 miles thing [sorry]. Whether we put out notes or audio I’m not sure yet but I hope you like what we do. If it goes well we’ll assess how we can do things like it – perhaps virtually. Had a very good 6-way ‘meet’ using Google Hangouts recently so that might be a way forward…
    bests,
    Phil
